Surf and Sand Lodge

Message: I loved my short stay here. The room was beautiful and clean. Even though we didn’t have a room with a view it was close we were able to walk to see the ocean daily. The beach is not easily accessible there’s a few paths to get closer but otherwise it’s a gorgeous view. The staff was so friendly and the room was well priced. We brought our dogs and we were told they couldn’t be left unattended. Which makes total sense but they also provided a list of restaurants with outdoor dining or pick up available. They provided dog specific towels and a sheet. It was perfect because we brought kennels to avoid any accidents. I did not get any pictures unfortunately it was a long trip and we set up and went to sleep. Really comfortable bed and really spacious room. Highly recommend. We will be coming back just to stay here again.

Message: Location: If you come here to relax-walk-hike on beach, you can not get any closer to beach and beach-views. You can either sit on balcony and enjoy beach views and breeze, or just take 10 steps and you are on beach trails, beach cliffs.. Advice: Get 2nd floor, and avoid only one only of the 5 units, which is little off beach view and noisy from Hywy 1 traffic.. Cleanness and Staff: Excellent on both accounts. Did not try their Wi-Fi, so no comments on speed or connectivity, instead used my cell hot spot.. Food: No food or breakfast. You can either drive to town center (5 min drive, 20 min scenic walk) for breakfast, lunch, dinner.. Final Thoughts: We stayed one night. May come back for a few days to unwind from hustle bustle of Bay Area. Adjacent to Surf and Sand, both on North and South side, there are a few more lodges, beach-wise exactly same location. We walked by those, but, I think this seemed a tad better.

Message: The Owner's Unit is spacious with a well equipped kitchen and an over sized deck and a small private garden. There is also a BBQ on the deck. Plenty of bed space with a king in one room, a queen in another room and a queen fold out couch in living room. We really enjoyed the space and plan to rent it again in June 2023. We had to move to 2 regular rooms for our 3rd night as the Owner's Unit was rented. Those rooms were lovely with private decks and killer views of the ocean. Both rooms had a fridge & micro wave & coffee makers. Enjoyed the entire stay and plan to visit many times in the future!

Message: You can't beat the view. It's otherwise abasic hotel, clean and reasonably comfortable. You're paying for the view, which is lovely. You can also rent bikes (we did). Staff is uniformly pleasant. We visited in April, and the room did get warm. No a/c, but the box fan did the trick. Could definitely use a towel rack closer to the shower.

Message: Had a two night stay with kids. Good room with amazing view and nice balcony. Easy access to beach and cycleway. Great check in / check out experience.

Message: Best place with easy access to the beach. Rooms are nice compared to beachcomber and ocean view. Service at the front desk was a little off and not as outgoing as expected from last stay here. I'll be back for sure!

Message: We love it. Walking path in front of room. Small hotel. Wish there was room service or bar. Quiet. Very peaceful.

Message: Rooms are a bit outdated and attention to detail not great. Example: ceiling had been painted but whoever did it lazily painted without taping off the ceiling fixture (#503). So there is white paint all over the fixture. I was getting ready to take a shower and no water! Determined that they were changing out a water heater. A courtesy notice would have been appropriate. All that said the rooms are nice enough and the ocean facing ones are hard to beat in terms of location. Staff was gracious and kind. So with that in mind I recommend!
